In the current LASUSU, where executive members are proactive and sometimes even doing too much, the 35th LASUSU Vice President, seemingly stands out for being one of those to incur the wrath of the SPC.
On the 7th of February 2025, the 35th LASUSU SPC announced in a press release, the suspension of the LASUSU Vice President, Comr. Rihanat Ramon.
This suspension would be valid for two-weeks during which an official public apology is expected to be tendered to the Parliamentary Council by the suspended Vice President.
According to the press release, the motion to suspend the VP was moved and seconded by honourable members and a referendum confirmed the motion.
In furtherance, the press release stated that the suspension is due to repeated instances of gross misconduct, disrespect and disregard for the 35th LASUSU Parliament.
Once Bitten, Twice NOT Shy
During the first Business Sitting of the SPC on January 10th, 2025, the Vice President was reportedly absent from the joint sitting with no correspondence of excuse of absence sent to the house ahead. However, the SPC Speaker, RT. Hon. Adedeji Adeniyi was said to have pardoned the act.
During the second sitting of January 17th, 2025, the LASUSU VP was surprisingly present, however multiple sources confirm that she spoke rudely to Honourable Members who asked her questions in the house, and she was said to have even exchanged words with an honourable member. Despite all of these, the house and the Speaker pardoned her act of disrespect.
However, during the budget sitting of 7th February, 2025, the Vice President did not appreciate the questions which arose from her budget presentation which made the honourable members question the legitimacy of what she stated in her budget, leading to further questions.
These questions from the house irritated her and it showed in her tone and response to the questions being asked. After her budget presentation, the other executive members were to present their budget but the Vice President walked out of the Hallowed Chamber before they could.
Several Honourable Members and even the Speaker, RT. Hon. Adeniyi called her back to properly excuse herself before leaving the house, but she claimed to have some stomach pain and disrespected the Council for the third time, leading to her suspension.
This coming at a time were the emeritus LASUSU President recently said females should not be given a chance at certain apex positions, and the slow growing clamour for female leadership on campus, the student community will indeed be let down by the recent drama surrounding Suspension of the Vice-President. 🤧

There’s a difference between accountability and defamation, and you just blurred that line beyond recognition.
Let’s get one thing straight, the LASUSU Vice President was out of line. She was rude, dismissive, and unprofessional in her approach. The quorum saw it, the Speaker saw it, and the suspension was well-earned. No arguments there.
But does that justify the name-calling and reputation assassination? Since when does one suspension equal a complete failure in leadership?
You Can’t Be Judged Twice for the Same Crime
The Vice President was suspended. That’s justice already served. Yet this newsletter is acting like she committed an unforgivable offense, dragging her through another round of judgment in the court of public opinion.
Since when did we start issuing double sentences for a single crime?
If a suspension for misconduct automatically makes someone a bad egg, then I suppose Tobun should be the first in line holding a cracked eggshell.
Because if we’re talking about leadership flaws, let’s talk about them all—not just the ones that fit an agenda.
The Real Job of Journalism
A newsletter is supposed to inform, not incite. To report, not ridicule. To challenge, not condemn.
This? This is just a well-dressed execution order.
If LASUlife really cares about accountability, let’s see this same energy for every failed leader—not just the ones convenient to slander.
Because this isn’t journalism—it’s an agenda wrapped in fancy words.
LASUlife, this isn’t LIFE you’re living.
