With excitement, Jambites accept their provisional admission and go ahead with the necessary protocols to be followed. Now on the path to becoming full LASUITES, here is the fresher’s guide to navigating Lagos State University (LASU) .
There are 6 major phases that your whole journey in LASU will entail, and I gave them very relatable names.
1. Anticipation Is Over!
I wrote Jamb 3 times, before finally accepting my admission into the Lagos State University.
Every single day was always filled with anticipation.
This feeling of anticipation is relatable for every fresher irrespective of the number of years or months spent at home before finally gaining admission.
At that point where we finally accept the offered admission, the scary anticipation is over!
However, you must be aware that accepting your offered admission doesn’t essentially guarantee your resumption but only saves you space.
Making costly mistakes in aspects such as payment of necessary fees, omitting faculty and departmental registration e.t.c are liable to make you lose your offered admission.
Now that you’ve learned about all of these, may it not be heard that you lost your admission!
2. From Imagination To Reality
I was slapped right out of my imagination when I moved from the big Nollywood hostel in my head to a tiny real room.
Remember to watch out and refuse to be deceived by LASU house agents.
The essence of the aforementioned isn’t to make you visualize my hostel but to make you realize that stepping into school will be equivalent to stepping into reality, hence, out of some elements of your imagination.
Whatever your imaginations are centered around, be it course of study, relationships, friendships, work, adventures, outings, utilizing talents, or obtaining skill sets e.t.c., know that things won’t always go as planned.
However, with prayer, hard work, and consistency, reality may persist, but your imagination would have a higher chance of overcoming it.
3. STAYING UP TO DATE WITH LASU LIFE
Honestly, following LASU Life cannot be emphasised enough. 4. Difficulties and Tough Dealings
Just like life, school is not a bed of roses.
As you proceed from being a fresher to a stay-lite, be ready for the LASU Shege. It could be financially, academically, spiritually, and emotionally.
While you undergo this phase, again remember to pray, be hardworking, and maintain consistency.
Suicide should never be an option!
5. Freshers To Overcomers
After students go through the LASU journey and finally make it to wearing those convocation gowns, you will agree with me that they indeed overcame!
As you start your journey, the thought that whatever you face won’t last forever should keeps you going. From freshers, you’d eventually become Overcomers. There’s honestly a whole lot going on in LASU aside the academics. Lasuites are known to have side hustles, participate in lots of extra-curricular, join students Societies, and attend campus events. All this while still balancing your academic life. Sounds impossible? Don’t worry, you’ll Learn 😁
However, I must warn you about the LASU Integrated Data Centre (LIDC).
LIDC is a popular platform that releases students’ results. LASUITES do not joke with LIDC because they fear extra years and carryover.
Carryover occurs when a compulsory course is failed and has to be taken again or repeatedly until it is passed. This can lead to an extra year in the university if not quickly remedied.
To avoid extra years and carryover ensure you pray, attend lectures and take attendance, do all assignments and tests, prepare hard and smartly for your exams, write your exams carefully, and pray again.
These routines should be followed, right as you resume as freshers and should be maintained till you eventually become overcomers.
6. Happy Ending
As the LASU journey gets tougher, you may start to doubt the essence of the whole journey, but an assurance I can give you is that there is always a happy ending.
Ensure that you engage yourself and have a positive impact on LASU. Take opportunities as they come your way and build solid connections with valuable people. This will give you leverage in the outside world.
I congratulate you as you embark on a journey from an Exciting Beginning to a Happy Ending.
WELCOME TO LAGOS STATE UNIVERSITY!
